Leave of Absence
« on: August 24, 2006, 03:13:16 AM »

Hey all,

As some of you might have noticed, I haven't been on at all recently.  I am in the process of moving 200 miles for school, and I start my new job as a news reporter for my university newspaper on Monday.  That is also when classes start.  I will be around again, but I am going to need a few weeks to get settled.

Please don't kick me out or anything, I love you guys!

EDIT:
I'm going to throw a question in here before anyone gets to read it.  If I were to not be in-game much but be fairly active in the forum, would that be sufficient?

I am starting to get the same feeling every other time I've played the game, which is that it has amazing potential, but that it is not quite there yet.  A friend of mine who is a grad student in computer science whose emphasis is on 3D graphics and I went over the game the other day, and our conclusion was that while things appear to be pretty stable on the server side, the client needs to be completely revamped.

That being said, the experiences I've had with this soc have been wonderful, and I'd hate to lose you guys because MindArk is not doing enough to satisfy me.  So... yeah.  Cheers!

Sounds like we have a designated Soc. reporter.  I agree with you and your buddy's assessment.  I suspect the client side suffers from making more demands on an individual's computer, then most computers can handle.  This includes going through firewalls, spam checkers and virus scanners... I bet the designers don't deal with that nor account for it very well.

Yup, join us on the forum, even when you can't be playing.

Hey Navim,

By all means take care of real life before virtual life every time it is an issue. I am sure someone will still be here when you come back...Besides that school can be a lot of fun so do not let this time in your life pass by without enjoying every minute of it.....
