Limited Playing Time
« on: November 20, 2007, 12:49:03 AM »

Just wanted to say, My playing time has been limited of late for numerous reasons.
1) Got yet another new guitar...
2) Got new sound equipment
3) Got new software for recording
4) Got new Midi to USB interface to record directly into the computer.
5) Able to use the USB system to interface record player to record records into computer for burning CD's or making MP3's.  Also got pop and hiss removal software.  This will take me almost 1000 hrs to convert my records.  Probably another 1000 to convert my tapes.  By the time I am done, CD's will be obsolete.
6) My broken neck has gotten worse, I see a neurosurgeon this week, and another neurosurgeon next week, it looks like my disk has been disintergrating, and I have to have some major surgery.  Therefore, I am lining up toys to play with while I am home on sick leave.

I wish you the best Ben.  My father needs another surgeory (something like his 5th or 6th) on his neck but this time it will fuse it and he will not be able to turn his head.  He is putting it off as long as he can.  Hope it all works out for you.

Thanks JJG and Xerces

My surgery is going to be Thursday .  Xerces, can your dad get synthetic disc?  They have been used in europe for about 8 years, but were just approved by FDA this year.  Several insurance companies pay for them, although I know Blue Cross does not.  Don't know about Medicare.  The cost for the device may be enough that by they time they are done using the bone, and metal plate  that maybe synthetic is only a small price step up.  Just an idea to explore, as I think the loss of mobility will make things very difficult.  He must have disc disease < drying out of the disc?>

Talk with you guys later.

I am not sure what the issue is with his disks.  I am not extremely close with him but I talk to him a couple times a year.  I will have to ask him next time I do.  Probably Christmas.  I know this was a couple years ago that they thought he was going to loose the mobility but I havent heard much since.  He originally injured it when he was in the Military recieves their disability for it.  I am not sure what insurance he is carrying.  Thanks for the info and good luck.
