ReCaptcha added to the registration process
« on: May 25, 2010, 08:09:29 AM »

Hello all :)

I have added the ReCaptcha anti-bot function to the registration process in an effort to stop bots registering on the forum, we have recently had three supposed members sign up all from the same IP address in taiwan which is known for its efforts to either spam or hack forums or attempt to harvest email addresses.

The forum already is quite secure in it abilities to detect and block spam and does maintain a watch list of sorts but cannot always spot some quite advanced spamming tools.

However I feel that by adding ReCaptcha to the registration process will help to prevent bots registering in the first place.

A quick note ... you may find it difficult to see your responses in the field where you would type the words that are displayed this is due to a CSS problem which I hope to fix soon ... ok CSS fixed for the current template.

I have added a discussion thread about ReCaptcha here
